Learning Options for School Groups

Build the academic programme around your students’ objectives

School Group tuition can combine General English with practical, topic-based learning. Groups can choose 15 or 20 hours of tuition per week and shape the academic focus around communication, culture, workplace skills, technology, sustainability and other current learning options.

General English

General English develops speaking, listening, reading and communication skills. Lessons are designed to help students use English more confidently and effectively, with a strong practical and communicative focus.

English for the Workplace

This module develops practical communication skills for work-related situations. It can help students explore professional vocabulary, teamwork, presentations and communication strategies that are useful in future study and employment contexts.

Start Your Own Micro Company

Students create, develop and pitch a business idea. The module combines English with creativity, collaboration and practical business thinking, giving students a reason to use the language to solve problems and present ideas.

Irish History & Culture

This option connects English learning with Ireland. Students can explore Irish history, literature, traditions and culture while developing the language needed to discuss what they discover.

Modern Technology & Social Media

Students explore technology, online safety, social media and digital communication through English. The topic can encourage discussion, critical thinking and vocabulary connected to the digital world students use every day.

Sustainability & Climate Change

This module uses environmental issues and greener-future projects as the context for English learning. Students can develop vocabulary, collaborate on ideas and communicate solutions around a topic with strong real-world relevance.

Company Visits & Practical Tours

Company Visits and Practical Tours can be added on request for an additional fee. They can be particularly useful for groups with workplace, career or PCTO-related objectives. A specific company or visit is never guaranteed until availability has been confirmed.

Practical and project-based learning

Depending on the selected module and the group’s objectives, lessons can include research, teamwork, presentations, surveys, cultural investigation and other practical tasks. This approach gives students opportunities to use English for a real purpose rather than only completing textbook exercises.

Legacy ISI Mini-stay materials describe this as an “English in Action” style of learning: students investigate a topic, collect information and present what they have learned. For current programmes, this is best understood as a flexible teaching approach rather than one fixed timetable that every group must follow.

Closed-group tuition

School Group tuition is organised for closed groups, allowing classmates to study together and giving the academic team a clearer context for adapting lesson content to the group’s age, objectives and programme.

15 or 20 hours per week

Standard School Groups can choose SCH15 with 15 hours of tuition per week or SCH20 with 20 hours. Morning or afternoon tuition can be arranged according to the confirmed programme.
